Shopfront: the WooCommerce shop page we kept rebuilding, solved
WooCommerce ships with a shop page that displays products. That's about all it does. Every time we built a WooCommerce store, we ended up rebuilding the same things — better filters, faster cart, a list view, a wishlist, sometimes a quote mode for B2B clients. After the third or fourth project, we stopped pretending each one was a custom job and built it properly, once.
That's Shopfront.
What's actually broken with the default WooCommerce Shop page
The shop page works, but it's stuck in 2014. Click a filter, the page refreshes. Change a quantity in the cart, the page refreshes. Want list view instead of grid? That's another plugin. Wishlist? Another plugin. B2B catalogue with "request a quote" instead of "add to cart"? Another plugin, and now you're juggling four different vendors with four different opinions on how a shop should behave.
Each one of those plugins adds weight, slows down the site, fights with the others, and breaks at the worst moment.
What we built
Shopfront replaces the WooCommerce shop page with a single, focused module. Live filtering, no page reloads. A side-cart slide-over so the customer never loses their place. List view and grid view, configurable per-store. A drag-and-drop interface in admin for organising attribute filters by hand. Wishlist and compare-list built in. Optional quote mode that swaps "add to cart" for "request a quote" and converts the whole shop into a B2B catalogue with the flip of a switch.
It's server-rendered on the first paint, then takes over with optimistic UI updates for everything after. Cart operations queue safely so rapid clicks never desync the basket. The whole thing loads faster than the stock shop page because it's not pretending to be five plugins working together.
What this means for you
If you run an existing WooCommerce store and you're losing customers somewhere between landing and checkout, Shopfront gives you a path to fix that without ripping the whole site apart. We can drop it into an existing theme or your own custom build without rebuilding your design.
If you're an agency tired of stitching together four plugins to get a halfway-decent shop experience, you've probably already worked out what we have: it's cheaper and safer to build it once and own it.
Shopfront is included free of charge with all of our eCommerce and product catalogue sites. It is also available for integration into sites which we didn't build for a once off fee.
A typical Shopfront integration for live sites runs around one week from start to live.
